Microsoft Downfall is coming up?

Everyone now is trying to interpret Microsoft proposal to Yahoo, and it is quite obvious that Google has created a huge challenge to Microsoft. Finding new business model that create the same value as Microsoft gave its customers but for free Google is threatening the control Microsoft had on the PC/OS/Office market.

Now this all looks very bad for Microsoft along with more coming forces:

1. The Linux for Desktop– After beating Microsoft NT, Linux is implemented in more and more desktops. Still it is an early adapters gig and Linux desktop is around a percent adoption it is maturing well with Ubuntu and Fedora.

2. Mobile computing is a niche that Microsoft is not the only player (like the PC OS) while some of the computing attention is focused there

3. The smaller Laptop a new market segment of cheap laptop with only free software (running Linux). Asus introduced the Eee a small and cheap laptop, now dell and HP are doing the same…

4. Free office open source (sun, open office, IBM …) or service like (Google’s open documents)

Actually I can go on and on of how’s the market is changing and moving away from the dependency on Microsoft technology and the hegemony of Microsoft/Intel. But I will spear you the fun discussion of how Microsoft is losing business to the open source of the free world. I actually like to introduce to you an Idea on how Microsoft can gain its market back, specially against the upcoming giant that scares us all Google.

Why Google so frightening?

Recently I visited the valley where I could hear the whispers of the ghosts talking about Google’s privacy penetration, and then it hit me. We all hated Microsoft for penetrating our packets forcing the market to charge a lot for its software, but we all developed dependency on the Microsoft windows operating system and the Office suit. Google promised us a great world no money for software or for data retrieval, in return they promised just advertising, now they have made the advertising so good that it actually read our emails to define what is good for us. Suddenly I am indexed in Google, and all my planes all my thoughts all my friends and interests also there. In the era of Social Networks this is scary. I am willing to pay more and keep my data to myself, or at least I would like the option…

Microsoft because of its history started in a world with limited network, that’s why they could charge on software, and in Google’s world they still have a chance to keep our networks private… I think that’s what Microsoft need to be focused on. They have made really bad job in their Security focus in Vista Obscurity that’s what security people will call the Vista security solutions, but just a small change in focus to keep the data private is a simple task that would gain them the customer trust along with alignment with the business model of selling software instead of software as a service…
